2010 Edition

The thirtieth edition of the Festival of Medieval Cities took place in the town of Monte San Giovanni Campano, Anagni, Trevi nel Lazio and Cassino getting the support of generous sponsors, such as Bank of Anagni, the Province of Frosinone and the municipality of Monte San Giovanni Campano, whose contribution was essential to the realization of this important event. The program took into account the diversity of the audience, some of whom prefer evasion commitment and therefore we tried to follow a line of balance in the drafting of the program, while maintaining the high quality of the art. Entering into the merits of the event, the novelty was the execution of three sacred pieces of G.B. Pergolesi in the three hundredth anniversary of the birth of rare works, in the Abbey of Montecassino and the Cathedral of Anagni, which were.carried out in semi-staged form, the comic operas of  G.B. Pergolesi “The Servant Mistress” and “Livietta and Tracollo” with the chamber orchestra of the Solisti Aquilani. The space on the Chamber Music is reserved for the Quartetto di Cremona. Two concerts were performed dedicated to the music and ethno-cultured Spanish Gypsy complexes “The gypsies of Budapest” and “Sevilla Flamenca”. The Festival also gave space to the music of the twentieth century Italian historian, of rare execution (G.Salviucci , L. Dallapiccola, A. Casella , G.F. Malipiero) with I Solisti del Teatro alla Scala in Milan. In the town of Monte San Giovanni Campano a concert was performed commemorating the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy and in memory of a shining episode of the Italian Renaissance at the House of Common Valentini same. The concert of ethnic music “Taranta of love” directed by Ambrogio Sparagna was largely successful. A piano concert, dedicated to F. Chopin, P.I. Tchaikovsky, S. Rachmaninov, and a concert with chamber orchestra dedicated to Mozart completed the music scene offered to the public.
